ASTRA Self Drive Cars started in 1946 with
one location in the center of Nicosia pioneering the concept
of offering vehicle rental for Cyprus. Having motorcycles
at first only, its creator, Mr.Dinos Kontos realized the potential
of the car rental industry, and focused its mission on providing
a fun, low-cost, high-value rental experience to family and
leisure travelers visiting Cyprus. About a decade later, ASTRA
was already the market leader in both corporate and leisure
car rental. Gradually, by the late 90s, ASTRA, which is an
acronym for A Service To Remember Always managed to build
a fleet of 1250 vehicles and maintain a high capacity utilization.
Being a pioneer in its industry ASTRA was the first to provide
its car services to large organizations that needed them.
ASTRA has been managing and providing the large fleets of
The United Nations Force of Cyprus, since the 60s very successfully.
Other large corporate customers include large tourist organizations,
all the major local banks as well as some government organizations,
and other private corporations with large fleets. These corporations
include many pharmaceutical , courrier services, trading companies,
telecom, food/beverage etc.
ASTRA functions within the most established network in the
country, with branches service stations, and garages all over
the island. Our sophisticated and carefully planned infrastructure
allows ASTRA Car Rental to provide its car rental services
all over the country 24 hours a day to tourists, corporate
clients and other business visitors. Fully aware of the necessary
competition and consumer's growing demand for better quality
and prompt service, management spared no effort in introducing
new technology, continuous training and other innovations.
To facilitate the increase in demand, ASTRA constructed state-of-the
art headquarters in the center of the capital, Nicosia, geared
to serve hundreds of customers per hour in a modern, ultra-spacious
environment. The company also has branches at the Cyprus Hilton
in Nicosia, Larnaca and Paphos International Airports, Larnaca
down town, Limassol by the coast, Paphos by the port, Latchi
